Thank
you to all who donated your time and resources!
CR was
able to spend a few weeks coming along
side the existing work of CC Joplin and
the residents around the church. The
kitchen trailer has been used to feed at
the least 150 - 200 meals 3 times a day
feeding both servant volunteers and
people within the community that have
been displaced by the tornado. This
also includes meals that where taken
into the heart of the devastation on
20th and Main street. The main street
outpost was a very strategic place of
ministry during these first few weeks.
CR through this able to help care for
the emergence workers 24/7 even with a
curfew in place this was huge. God
really used all these joint efforts to
accomplish His will in meeting immediate
needs of the victims and the emergence
workers. As we arrived and set up the
tired servants of CC Joplin who where so
overwhelmed by the events and all that
lay ahead just smiled. Many expressed
such a thankful heart that CR would
drive 1630 miles just to come along side
to serve " it was like God was giving us
a big hug ". Taking all the calls at
the office of CR during this first month
and helping to coordinate the schedule
was also imperative as it has allowed CC
Joplin to catch up. CC Joplin is now
able to take on some of these areas now
for themselves as this moves from an
emergence to a more management
situation.
Past Updates

2011
The ministry here is
multifaceted. Our first goal was to set up the kitchen
so that we could start feeding the team members and the
community. This was quickly established and we were
preparing close to 300 meals a day. This is an ongoing
priority and struggle, but the Lord has blessed us with
a cold storage facility after the refrigerated trailer
we were storing our food in failed. The Lord has also
provided free daily ice deliveries from a local company.
Another facet is the distribution of food and clothing.
People are continuing to come in for help with these
items and everyone is greeted with the Love of our Lord
Jesus Christ. They
are escorted through the tents, assisted in acquiring
the things they need, and then ushered to their cars and
offered prayer.
A third area of ministry is the
off site satellite location that was established right after
the event. It is simply a pop-up shade with tables that is
located in a Walgreen’s parking lot on the edge of the
destruction zone. Ever since the night of the storm, people
have come to this location for prayer, food, and
refreshment. It has become a hot spot for ministry to the
public, police, and National Guard. We are currently trying
to staff this location around the clock.
There is currently a team from
Harvest Christian Fellowship that is building a shower unit
that will allow teams the ability to take showers without
going off site. Requests are coming in from the community
for assistance in cleaning up and repair work, and some
teams have been dispatched to go door-to-door to ask the
community if they need help.
There is plenty of
opportunity for ministry as this event has softened the
hearts of many.
Matt 9:37
"Then He
said to His disciples, 'The harvest trulyisplentiful,
but the laborersarefew.'"
